Addictions are a very serious health issue. The impact of one addicted individual reaches a wide range of people, including family, friends and the workplace. An employee struggling with an addiction can create a ripple effect that interferes with the smooth functioning of his or her entire work area.

Employees affected by addiction or stress are sick, late and absent more than their colleagues. Addiction, stress and other health problems result in lost time, poor quality work and on-the-job injuries, which affect productivity, employee morale and, ultimately, the profitability of your business. Outcome studies conducted by Bellwood Health Services have shown that our most successful clients are those who have been referred for treatment by, and receive continuing support in recovery from, their employers.

As an employer, early detection of performance or personality changes can alert you to the need for help. What are the signs and what should you do if you detect a problem? Do your employees perform safety-sensitive duties? What are your legal obligations as an employer and what tools and resources are available? What are the benefits of collaboratively working with an employee to seek treatment and return to the workplace – to you the employer, to the employee, to the employee’s co-workers?

Join us for this valuable panel discussion about the impact of addiction on the workplace and the many benefits of identifying and managing an employee struggling with an addiction.
