Communications & Marketing Manager


Healthy Minds Canada (HMC) is a national charity in the mental health and addictions space headquartered out of downtown Toronto and we are looking for an enthusiastic, creative, and ambitious Communications and Marketing Manager effective immediately.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Communications & Marketing Manager will lead all internal and external communication initiatives.


Core Responsibilities

Write, edit and oversee production of material for various communication channels and platforms including, but not restricted to: slideshows, twice-monthly newsletters, fact sheets, briefing notes, press releases, brochures and annual reports, correspondence, videos, news releases, our daily blog, website, social media, etc.

Gather and report on all analytics related to external communications (social media, newsletters, web site, etc).

Oversee the sales of our When Something’s Wrong handbook series.

Manage the process of the revision of our Workplace and Families versions of our WSW handbook.

While you will not have staff to manage, you will be responsible for on-boarding and training of volunteers to assist with a variety of communications and marketing initiatives.

Assist with grant writing.

Oversee the development of a comprehensive marketing and communications plan and develop a budget needed to execute.

Support and attend all external events with effective communication materials (pre-event, for event, and post-event).

Assist with drafting Board materials and other internal communications.



University or College degree in public relations, journalism, communications, marketing, or related area is an asset.

Prior experience writing or editing a blog or newsletter, building and managing a web site, and/or have excellent writing and editing skills for a wide range of communications, public/media relations or marketing tactics.

Web development and web design an asset.

Knowledgeable on communication products, processes, production, and measurement methods.

Highly positive and professional interpersonal skills.

Sound judgement, issues resolution decision-making skills.

Ability to work independently, with competing priorities, in a fast-paced environment.

This is a great opportunity for a first job so we are not looking for many years of experience.  However, some demonstration of past work in the communications space is essential.
